Fall 2008 Schedule

Tentatively, the Seminar will meet from 12:20 to 1:20 on Tuesday afternoons in Room 105 of Rhoades Hall to discuss matters related to math pedagogy as well as the latest developments in research mathematics.

The seminar may meet for special occasions on Friday afternoons. Stay posted!

• Tuesday, September 9th. Sam Kaplan will lead a discussion about the ways in which an ordinary deck of playing cards can be used to facilitate group work in the math classroom.
• Tuesday, September 16th. All students and faculty are encouraged to attend a forum on undergraduate research in mathematics at UNC Asheville.
• Tuesday, September 30th. Patrick Bahls, Sally Lake, and Andrew Wertheim, University of North Carolina, Asheville, Inflating graceful labelings.
• Tuesday, October 28th. Julie Barnes, Western North Carolina University, Julia set surfaces.
• Tuesday, December 9th. Mark McClure, University of North Carolina, Asheville, An introduction to Mathematica 7.0.
