Welcome, one and all! Below you'll find tentative exam dates, vacation schedules, and various administrative deadlines. Enjoy!
- Wednesday, January 14th. First day of class! Are you ready to rock, roll, and compute some Galois groups?
- Monday, January 19th. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day: no class!
- Monday, February 16th. Exam 1 will be handed out. Here is the schedule for this exam:
- Friday, February 20th: first draft due
- Monday, February 23rd: drafts returned
- Friday, February 27th: final versions due
- Friday, March 27th. Spring Undergraduate Research Symposium: no class!
- Monday, March 30th. Exam 2 will be handed out. Here is the schedule for this exam:
- Monday, April 6th: first draft due
- Wednesday, April 8th: drafts returned
- Friday, April 10th: final versions due
- Monday, April 27th. Exam 3 will be handed out. It will be due on Monday, May 4th.
- Friday, May 1st and Monday, May 4th. You will give your final presentations on topics of your choosing. Here is a tentative schedule for these presentations:
- Friday, May 1st
- Giv Parsi and Natalie Rich: The Sylow Theorems
- Juliana Duncan and Phillip Johnston: Lattices and universal algebra
- Tommy Moore and Mallory Schaffert: More lattice theory (or perhaps something about the Cubic Formula)
- Monday, May 4th
- Lucas Siegel: Monoids and other algebras
- Sam Powell and Ben Radford: RSA-like cryptography
- Rebecca Edmonds and Corey Jones: Near-rings
- Alex Ford and Theo Schoen: Category theory
