Functions That Fool Graphing Calculators
The purpose of this page is to collect a number of examples of functions
whose graphs are rendered incorrectly on some type of graphing calculator.
This page is not meant to be an attack on the use of graphing calculators
in education, but rather a contribution to the correct use of graphing
calculators in education. I personally believe that new technologies
should be used in education and have made a
more detailed statement
describing my viewpoint on how to incorporate this new technology.
This page is somewhat graphic intensive.
The pictures were generated using a Mathematica package which emulates
a graphing calculator.
My statement on technology in education.
