The Thirtieth Annual Summer Symposium in Real Analysis will
be held June 13-17, 2006 at The University of North
Carolina at Asheville. The focus of the Asheville
Symposium will be three principle lectures by leading
experts in real analysis. The program includes hour long
talks by Yang Wang of Georgia Tech, Manav Das of The
University of Louisville and Alica Miller of The
University of Louisville.
In addition to the principal lectures, we have a number of
slots set aside for twenty minute talks. Young researchers
are particularly encouraged to present their work. There
will also be time set aside for collabortive work and, as
usual, a major goal is to create an atmosphere encouraging
easy exchange of ideas.
On the afternoon of Thursday, June 15, there will be an
excursion to the
North Carolina Arboretum followed by dinner at the
Pisgah Inn.
Fees for the conference with separate options for
dormitories and the excursion are as follows:
- Conference fee: $60 (or $80 after April 15).
- Dormitory fee: $90 for a single or $60 a piece for
a
double;
includes the room Tuesday night through Friday
night and meals in the dining hall.
- Thursday excursion: $45 per person. (Not yet set in
stone)
In addition to these fees,
we have obtained substantial funding from the National
Science Foundation, The Gibson Fund and a generous local
grant from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
These funds will be used to defray the cost of
subsistence,
fund the principal speakers, and attract young
researchers.
In particular, we have a number of travel grants
specifically for young researchers.
