SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS
GENERAL
The Completed Application form must include the following:
Six copies of the application cover sheet, biographical sketch, detailed description, and proposed budget. Incomplete applications and electronic submissions will not be considered.

B. BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
The
biographical sketch should be limited to two pages, which includes the
following information: NAME, TITLE, YEARS AT
C. A description of the proposed project
• The description should refer to items listed among the Criteria for Approval (below).
• The language of the narrative should be accessible to a multi-disciplinary audience.
• The project narrative should not exceed 3 typewritten pages (10 pt. font minimum), excluding references. Appendices may contain tables, illustrations, budget justification, letters of collaborative arrangements, equipment sharing, animal care or human subject approvals.
• Applications should describe the scope, objectives, methodology, and expected significance of the proposed project.
• Applications should indicate whether, how and to what extent students will assist in carrying out this project.
• Applications should explain the relationship of the proposed projects to their immediate and long-range study or research objectives.
• Applications should also describe the expected impact of the project in the field, its relationship to existing scholarship, the likelihood of publication/performance, and the potential for future projects arising out of this research.
D. A detailed budget with narrative
justification
In order for a proposal to be considered, an itemized budget with a narrative justification must be included.
Criteria for
Approval
1. The overall scholarly merit of the proposal is clearly elucidated by the applicant.
2. The principal investigator is well-qualified to conduct this research, and the proposed
research contributes meaningfully to knowledge in this area.
3. The proposed research will result in a significant publication, exhibit, or performance.
4. The methodology for this proposal is well explained and is of high quality.
5. The stated outcomes for this proposal are appropriate and reasonable.
6. The budget for this proposal is clearly stated and justified.
7. The stated research complies with the mission of the university.
8. The stated research enhances the applicant’s likelihood of future research and external funding in the area.
Grant Conditions & Allowable Costs
1. Recipients must file a report following the completion of the funded project, but no later than one year following the date of funding. Any publications resulting from this research effort should acknowledge URC support.
2. Funds should be consumed within one year. Extensions may be granted if appropriately justified in writing to the chair of the URC.
3. The URC does not fund faculty salary support for the academic year or recess periods. Each year, one of these categories will be allowed: (1) Travel to perform research or (2) Research materials. Publication costs (e.g., charges associated with reproduction of materials or obtaining copyrights) are allowable. Travel to meetings and conferences is not supported.
