We have discussed the idea of intersectionality, or multiple layers of identities, and how our own identities change over time and place.  Even as a child, Tyson carried with him many identities:  a southerner, a preacher’s kid, and a white male, among others.  Blood Done Sign My Name tells the story of how a young person's goals become shaped by life events. How did Tyson’s childhood confrontations with racial dynamics shape his identities?

 

The purpose of this reflection is to demonstrate both knowledge of and reflection on the contents of the book.  The paper should have a thesis statement, evidence to support your points, and a conclusion.  Be sure to provide specific examples from the book, in order to support your points.  Imagine that your audience is a well-educated person who has not read the book.  This may help you to explain your ideas more clearly and thoroughly.
